Two-thirds of American adults are overweight or obese. More than one-third of adults are considered obese. The prevalence of obesity is similar for both men and women, about 36%.
This didn’t start with adults.
33% of adolescents 6 to 19 years old are considered overweight or obese. The simple fix is if you take in more calories than you burn in a day over time you will tip the balance toward weight gain, overweight, and obesity – to avoid this simply begin with cutting your calorie intake, being aware of what you are putting in your body, and eat real foods!
Factors that effect this energy imbalance and weight gain are your genes, eating habits, how and where people live, attitude and emotions, life habits, and income. So there you have it – we are a country of fatties which makes me feel sad and depressed. I guess I’ll go get a hot fudge brownie sundae to help me cope.
