How about those Broncos off to the Super Bowl – Some people are calling it the Stoner-Bowl because Washington and Colorado have both legalized the sale of marijuana – with lots of taxes being paid, I might add.
We must be a bunch of reincarnated Romans to love football sooo much! Our coliseums are even designed after the great coliseum in Rome.
The Roman coliseum was finished in 80 AD. It had eight entrances and seated between 50 and 80 thousand spectators. Over its span, the coliseum estimated over 500,000 people and over 1 million wild animals lost their lives.
The last Gladiator fight took place in 435 AD. The coliseum took nine years to build – and used over 60,000 Jewish slaves. Admission to the games was free for all Romans and the spectators were also fed throughout the show.
Sounds a lot like our modern-day professional football games… Of course, admission and food aren’t free anymore.
Also, our modern-day Gladiators don’t fight to the death anymore – they fight to the brain injury.
